Antioxidative deployment force
To neutralize free radicals and to avoid cell damage before it happens, nature has established an “antioxidant deployment force”: antioxidants. Among the best known antioxidants are vitamins A and C as well as beta-carotene.
Astaxanthin, which belongs to the group of carotenes, takes a special global position, and is added to that group.
Some of the best antioxidants, like vitamin C, when neutralizing free radicals become aggressive reactive substances themselves, i.e. they become “pro-oxidative”. With astaxanthine this transformation due to it’s special molecular structure makes this completely impossible.
